  • NOBLE POETRY

  • Honest judgment

There can be no more mercy around you! There is only wrath, and spite, and ruthlessness, and
Thou grumbleth within thyself like a lean and broken vessel: Thou wailest in thy fierce and unsparing
and thou wilt not spare thy chances!
And thou shalt not be free...The recurring questions of the prophets, with eternal immortality
In thy wandering skull. - It has been said, "If you do not scratch for yourself
who will do it for you?"

Thy humility is trampled to the ground, thy remaining treasures, Thy humanity, and thy crying
and thy whispering voice, like a gaping Kharübdis, shall be swallowed up by the Budaörs hills!
when in the luxurious mansions of the Bocce institutions, in the cold-cold cabins
And in the loneliness of chilling chambers, The human will will finally put thee on ice.
your lungs will collapse in a moment!

Then should you have shouted, should you have blustered in your hysterical euphoria: "Thou hast all
and should not have asked and begged but for starry eyes
the forgiving humility of the stars, that thou didst not yield thy own self-pity to another, - always
in everlasting slaps before thyself, thou hast run away in a cowardly and shabby way, and hast stoned
and in thy heart the moth of the universe:

and now, in a foolish and unintelligent bamboozle.
can but stare with unseeing eyes at thy love's - if it were but his pretended cold indifference!
For thou couldst have been all, and now art a miserable outcast and a pitiful drifter.
but a paltry, miserable wretch! Thy heart's law is in thee only: Measure thy consolation by thy honesty.
